HOW TO USE A 3-D PRINTER

  • .stl file- Once the three dimensional object is ready on the computer to be printed it needs to be converted and exported to print in a .stl file. Even a model of a CAD model needs to be converted before printing.
  • The slicing software- The exported .stl file is imported into a slicing software. Each printer has a different kind of slicer software. The imported .stl file is then exported into the printer in G-Code or makerbot depending on the type of printer being used. This is imported into the printer and gives directions on how to print and on what speed to print the object
  • The extruders- The extruders should be set in such a way that it justifies the output. For example, two extruders help print out two different colors if the user wishes so or painter tape beds
  • Infill- One has to makes sure what amount of infill they need for the model. The infill is the amount of material inside the object, it can be anywhere from zero to a hundred percent. A zero percentage infill has no material inside the final model whereas a one hundred percentage will be completely solid.
